## Description

The Sensory Den is a family-run business founded in 2024 by husband-and-wife team Lexi and Doug, based in Sheriff Hutton near York. It aims to make specialist sensory experiences more accessible for children and adults with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), as well as people with sensory differences. Its mobile pop-up sensory room brings equipment and a calm, therapeutic environment to homes, schools, community settings, events and other venues, reducing the need to travel to permanent facilities.

The sensory spaces can include bubble lamps, sensory tents, fibre-optic lights, calming music and other specialist equipment. Customers can book a pop-up room or hire equipment for parties, private events and corporate use, either at a chosen venue or for use at home. Flexible setups can be tailored to available space and hired when needed, without the expense or commitment of a permanent room. The Sensory Den presents sensory play as a way to support self-regulation, coping skills, development and wellbeing. Its founders bring experience in social work and care.
