The Student View is the UK's first network of newsrooms in schools, dedicated to providing young people from underserved communities with a platform to share their perspectives through words. As a digital media literacy charity, their mission is to equip young individuals with the skills necessary to navigate the online world, identifying truthful and reliable information. With only 36% of Brits trusting the news and concerns over misleading online content affecting 51% of the UK's children, The Student View aims to bridge this gap by offering free workshops that educate and empower young people. Their team of passionate professionals, along with journalist volunteers, trustees, and advisory board members, drive their work forward. Since their inception in September 2016, The Student View has successfully launched 140 newsrooms, engaging 2,267 young people in their media literacy program. Their student reporters play a vital role in investigating and reporting on local stories that matter, with over 35 of their articles published in local news outlets. By partnering with local news organizations, their teenage reporters have shaped public conversations on issues that resonate with them. Through their valuable contributions, The Student View is making a significant impact in promoting media literacy and amplifying the voices of young individuals in underserved communities.
