About

Description

The Village Family Service Center is a multi-service agency with a rich history dating back to 1891. It was initially established as an auxiliary agency in Fargo, North Dakota, by Rev. C.

J. McConnehey, under the mandate of the Children's Home Society of Minnesota. Over the course of 100 years, this modest effort grew into a comprehensive organization that is dedicated to serving homeless, neglected, and destitute children.

Originally known as the Dakota Children's Home Society, The Village Family Service Center focused on maintaining an active orphanage, providing foster care and adoption services. With the support of generous donors like Mr. J.

L. Grandin, who contributed $100 and 640 acres of land, a permanent temporary home was built. In 1897, under new leadership, the society was officially incorporated as the North Dakota Children's Home Society.

Today, The Village Family Service Center offers a wide range of services that support children and families in North Dakota and Minnesota. These services include adoption and pregnancy counseling, mentoring, mental health counseling, addiction treatment, financial guidance, business services such as an Employee Assistance Program, and mediation. Through their dedicated efforts, The Village Family Service Center continues to strengthen communities by providing vital resources and support to those in need
