## Description

The Wood Foundation is a philanthropic organisation working across Scotland and Africa to support lasting change. Founded on values of enterprise, responsibility and ambition, it invests in people, ideas and businesses that can strengthen communities, regional economies and livelihoods. Its approach is practical and long term: the Foundation funds organisations and initiatives, develops and delivers programmes, partners with people and organisations, and uses venture philanthropy in Africa to support enterprises and sustainable livelihoods.

In Africa, its work includes long-term projects and initiatives focused on smallholder agriculture and economic opportunity. In Scotland, it supports local businesses and community organisations, and runs the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative, which helps young people explore their potential and engage with social challenges. The Foundation also offers the Lady Helen Wood Fund, a £2 million annual commitment providing flexible funding to charities supporting young people and improving the lives of older adults in Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire.
