## Description

Thingelstad is a brand that harnesses the full potential of meteorology to provide valuable information, products, and services. With a focus on benefiting the world's poor, Thingelstad aims to help people prepare for weather disasters in advance. By utilizing cutting-edge technology, including supercomputers and machine learning, Thingelstad offers accurate and detailed weather forecasts that have practical applications in various sectors. Their numerical weather prediction (NWP) systems, supported by the World Bank, provide forecasts that have been proven to be beneficial, amounting to a staggering $162 billion annually. These forecasts can be observed in everyday life, with smartphone icons representing weather conditions becoming more reliable. Looking towards the future, Thingelstad aims to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into their systems, enhancing the accuracy and accessibility of their forecasts. By combining AI with NWP techniques, they can uncover hidden patterns and provide more detailed projections for climate change scenarios. To maximize their potential, three key actions need to be taken. First, the infrastructure supporting NWP should be preserved while ensuring healthy competition among new entrants. Second, AI and number-crunching methods should be integrated to effectively address climate change. Lastly, early warning systems for weather disasters should be accessible to everyone, saving lives and livelihoods through timely information. Thingelstad's commitment to utilizing the power of meteorology and advanced technologies ensures that individuals, communities, and businesses can make informed decisions and take proactive measures in response to weather conditions and climate change threats.
