About
Description
Thistledown Press is an independent literary publisher based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Established in 1975, it initially focused on showcasing new Prairie writers and quickly evolved into a prominent publisher of emerging and established authors from all over Canada. With a rich history spanning 45 years, Thistledown Press has published over 500 titles by acclaimed writers such as Lorna Crozier, Susan Juby, Patrick Lane, and Alistair MacLeod, among many others.
Under new ownership since fall 2020, Thistledown Press is dedicated to continuing its legacy of promoting Canadian literary writing, particularly authors from Western Canada. Their current program encompasses fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction, catering to adult, young adult, juvenile, and occasionally even very young readers. As a member of prestigious organizations like The Association of Canadian Publishers and The Literary Press Group of Canada, Thistledown Press adheres to high editorial standards and produces beautifully designed books for distribution across Canada and the US.
They are proud of their Saskatoon roots and have an office located in the lively Riversdale neighborhood. Thistledown Press gratefully acknowledges the financial support of The Canada Council for the Arts, SK Arts, and the government of Canada for its publishing program. For writers who wish to submit their work, Thistledown Press provides detailed Submission Guidelines on their website.
