## Description

Thresher Shark Indonesia is a community-based conservation initiative dedicated to protecting thresher sharks and their habitats. Founded by young Indonesians in 2018, the organization works to understand the vulnerability of thresher shark populations and identify critical habitats by involving local communities. It operates through Yayasan Teman Laut Indonesia, a nonprofit registered with the Indonesian government, and is based on Alor Island in East Nusa Tenggara.

Its activities combine conservation, research, and education. Projects include monitoring thresher sharks, using satellite tags, raising awareness in local schools, and supporting mangrove restoration to help protect coastal areas. The organization also shares news, articles, media coverage, and annual reports about its work and conservation challenges.

Thresher Shark Indonesia invites people to contribute by volunteering in educational activities in Alor or reporting sightings of dead thresher sharks and encounters while diving. Through community participation and practical local programs, it aims to strengthen understanding of thresher sharks and encourage the protection of the ecosystems they depend on.
