Players can get started without installing the game, signing in with Google or Discord. Its defining feature is offline progression: characters continue hunting, fighting and gaining experience on the server even when players have closed the game. The game offers five vocations, each with a distinct role: Knight, Sorcerer, Druid, Paladin and Monk. Players can choose from more than 300 curated hunts, with routes, creatures and difficulty details, or use the integrated hunting bot to attack, loot, heal and navigate a planned route through the client. Other features include live browser spectating, equipment imbuements, rankings, boss encounters, a Bazaar, and community updates and coordination through Discord. Hunt Idle also provides a wiki, guides and tools to support players.
