## Description

Tierheim Ostthüringen e.V. and Tierschutzverein Greiz u.U.e.V. work together to protect animals in Greiz and the surrounding area. For more than 30 years, the organizations have provided shelter and care for dogs, cats, and small animals in need, offering them a safe, appropriate temporary home while they await a new chance. Their work is supported by volunteers and carried out in modern housing conditions. The shelter has been certified by the German Animal Welfare Federation for animal-appropriate care since April 2018 and received the federation’s 2015 German Animal Welfare Award special prize for animal rescue.

Visitors can learn about animals looking for homes, receive guidance when considering adoption, and arrange to meet a particular dog. Dog walking is also available by prior telephone registration. General tours require an appointment, with the shelter’s events offering additional opportunities to learn about its work. The organizations welcome donations and provide forms and practical information online. The shelter is located in Greiz-Sachswitz and can be contacted by phone or email.
