# TIGHAR - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `tighar.org` - **Employees:** 2+ - **Location:** Wilmington, Delaware, United States ## Description TIGHAR (The International Group for Historic Aircraft Recovery) is a non-profit foundation dedicated to responsible aviation archaeology and historic preservation. With a mission to compile and verify reports of rare and historic aircraft surviving in remote areas, TIGHAR conducts investigations and recovery expeditions in collaboration with museums and collections worldwide. They serve as a trusted voice for integrity, responsibility, and professionalism in aviation historic preservation. Unlike other organizations, TIGHAR doesn't have its own collection or engage in artifact restoration or trading. Instead, they focus their resources on saving endangered historic aircraft wherever they're found and educating the international public on the importance of preserving flight history. Led by Executive Director Richard E. Gillespie and a dedicated Board of Directors, TIGHAR's activities include research management, fundraising, media relations, and publication of their newsletter/journal, TIGHAR Tracks. Join TIGHAR now and be part of their mission to protect and celebrate the relics of aviation history.
