From Street to Safety is a dedicated organization that aims to support and empower vulnerable children and youth in Sudan. Founded by Ingvild and Anniken, along with Taha and Merete in 2011, this organization works tirelessly to create a positive impact on the lives of those in need. Their journey began when Ingvild and Anniken realized the dire situation of the homeless population in Port Sudan back in 2009-2010. At that time, there were no services provided for this marginalized group. Motivated to make a change, they founded From Street to Safety, which now operates under the guidance of a dedicated board of directors in Norway. In 2012, the organization successfully raised enough funds to open a day center in Port Sudan, offering a safe haven and educational opportunities for children and youth previously living on the streets. This monumental achievement led to improved prospects for 39 children, allowing them to attend school and ultimately transforming their future. Grateful for the support received, From Street to Safety now obtains funding from private donors, schools in Norway, and partners in Sudan. In 2017, the organization expanded its reach by establishing a new center in Kassala, near the Eritrean border. This new center aims to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children and youth, giving them an opportunity to break away from street life and access education.
