## Description

The Tennessee Native Plant Society (TNPS) is a statewide organization founded in 1977 to conserve and celebrate native plant communities and their habitats through education. From the Appalachian Mountains to the Mississippi River floodplains, Tennessee supports a rich diversity of plants, including rare and endangered species. TNPS brings together professional and amateur botanists, wildflower enthusiasts, and others who want to learn about and protect this natural heritage.

The society offers members field trips across Tennessee, guided by people familiar with local plants and habitats, as well as monthly online seminars on native plant topics. Its annual conference combines presentations and field outings, and TNPS provides scholarships for students and teachers to attend regional plant conferences. Members can also stay informed through a quarterly newsletter featuring society activities and notable Tennessee plants.

TNPS supports educational resources and publications, including Wildflowers of Tennessee, and contributes to the online Tennessee and Kentucky Plant Atlas.
