## Description

Tomoura is a picturesque fishing village located in Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, renowned for its unique silk fabric known as chirimen, made from young sardines. To promote this local specialty, the Tomoura Chirimen Project was established, highlighting the culinary potential of chirimen through the annual summer gourmet festival, Tomoura Chirimen Gourmet. This event brings together over ten local restaurants, showcasing creative dishes that feature this delicacy, such as chirimen pasta, unique okonomiyaki, and even chirimen-topped pizzas.

The project aims to revitalize the region's fishing industry while introducing visitors to the rich flavors of the Seto Inland Sea. The chirimen is carefully prepared by local fishermen, who utilize traditional methods to ensure premium quality. By fostering a deep appreciation for chirimen and its culinary versatility, the Tomoura Chirimen Project not only enriches the local economy but also helps establish Tomoura as a must-visit destination for food enthusiasts.
