## Description

The Reit- und Tonnenbund Klockenhagen e.V. is a local association in Klockenhagen, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, dedicated to preserving and promoting the traditional custom of Tonnenabschlagen, a festive horseback event in which riders strike a suspended barrel. The association traces the local tradition to the late nineteenth century and has continued its activities in its current form since 1991. Its main annual celebration takes place on the last Saturday of July and brings together residents and visitors for the procession, riding, barrel competition, and related festivities. The club also hosts activities for children, including a children’s Tonnenabschlagen, and organizes events such as the Tag des Pferdes and spring rides. Beyond its cultural program, the association rents out its timber-framed clubhouse for family occasions, including birthdays, weddings, and anniversaries, with buffet and catering available if requested. It also offers a commemorative publication on the club’s 100-year history, featuring photographs and accounts of its members, regional barrel-striking traditions, and the 2022 anniversary celebration.
