## Description

The Tor Project is a non-profit organization that pioneered the concept of "onion routing" in the mid-1990s to address internet privacy and security issues. Through a decentralized network of volunteer-operated relays, Tor offers users private access to an uncensored web, defending against tracking, surveillance, and censorship. Initially developed by researchers at the U.S. Naval Research Lab, Tor evolved into a global tool for online privacy and freedom, with millions of users worldwide. The development of the Tor Browser in 2008 made Tor more accessible to everyday users and activists, playing a crucial role during events like the Arab Spring and the Snowden revelations. The Tor Project continues to advocate for human rights by providing free and open-source anonymity and privacy technologies. Download Tor Browser to experience real private browsing and join the fight for online freedom.
