## Description

The Tornado and Storm Research Organisation (TORRO) is a not-for-profit research body dedicated to advancing the understanding of severe convective weather phenomena in Britain and Ireland. Founded in 1974 by Dr. Terence Meaden, TORRO specializes in the study of thunderstorms, tornadoes, and large hail events. Initially named the Tornado Research Organisation, it expanded in 1982 with the inclusion of the Thunderstorm Census Organisation, enhancing its data collection and research capabilities.

Supported by a diverse team of professional and amateur meteorologists, TORRO relies on voluntary contributions from its members and a dedicated Advisory Board. The organization conducts extensive climatological research and investigates severe weather events, consistently contributing valuable data to the meteorological community.

Beyond research, TORRO also hosts bi-annual conferences to present findings and celebrate significant contributions to meteorology. Committed to public interest, TORRO makes its data available for non-commercial academic use and invites donations to support its mission of improving understanding of severe weather hazards in the region.
