Led by Chief Ken McCallum, the agency faces increasing risks from terrorist organizations such as the Islamic State (IS), and state-backed actions from countries including Russia and Iran. The resurgence of IS, particularly its Khorasan Province in Afghanistan, poses significant challenges, as more UK citizens express intentions to join these groups. MI5's diligent investigations have successfully thwarted 43 terrorist plots since March 2017, highlighting its commitment to public safety. Moreover, with the ongoing geopolitical tensions, MI5 is closely monitoring Iranian plots and Russian intelligence operations, which have intensified since the invasion of Ukraine. With a substantial rise in investigations related to state-sponsored threats, MI5 emphasizes the need for heightened vigilance in order to protect its citizens from both domestic and international dangers, solidifying its role as a vital entity in the face of evolving security challenges. ## Industries - ⚖️ Law and Government - ⚖️ National Security _(under Law and Government)_ ## Logos & icons - logo _(primary)_ — PNG, SVG — [download](https://cdn.brandfetch.io/ido1f0qS_z/w/820/h/820/theme/dark/logo.png?c=1bxid64Mup7aczewSAYMX&t=1736437512769) ## Colors | Name | Hex | Theme | | --- | --- | --- | | Red Robin | #783e22 | dark | | Goldenrod | #ffcb70 | light | | Mariner | #1e73be | accent | ## Fonts - var(--global-heading-font-family) — asset _(custom)_ - -apple-system — asset _(system)_ --- _Source: _ _See [/llms.txt](/llms.txt) for a full list of agent-readable pages, and [/auth.md](/auth.md) for how agents authenticate._
