## Description

The Philharmonic Chorus of Tokyo, established in March 1956, stands as Japan's premier independent professional choir. Comprising skilled vocalists trained at esteemed music conservatories, this choir maintains a high standard in choral music. The organization operates with three core objectives: hosting lively concerts, establishing a professional choral presence, and creating new Japanese choral compositions.

With a robust performance schedule, the choir presents about 200 concerts annually across Tokyo and Osaka, including collaborations with various orchestras and appearances in operas. Their repertoire spans over 200 works commissioned from distinguished composers worldwide, alongside pieces from historical and contemporary genres. Engagement in cultural education for youth is a significant part of their mission, demonstrated by hosting school performances and workshops.

The chorus has received notable accolades, including the Agency for Cultural Affairs' Special Support designation and awards celebrating their contributions to vocal music. Their dynamic leadership includes celebrated conductors, ensuring a vibrant and innovative choral experience for audiences both domestically and internationally.
