About
Description
Table de Quartier Sud de l'Ouest de l'Île | Pointe is a non-profit brand that aims to enhance access to affordable, fresh, and local fruits and vegetables for everyone. They operate the Neighbourhood Market, a solidarity market held in Pointe-Claire during the summer months. The market follows a short supply chain model by sourcing produce directly from local farms in and around the West Island, ensuring optimal freshness and supporting local farmers.
In addition to fruits and vegetables, the Neighbourhood Market offers ready-made meals and other items created by their partner, Corbeille de Pain, as part of their food waste reduction initiative. All items are sold at an equitable price, and the market operates on a pay-what-you-can model. Shoppers can contribute based on their ability to pay, allowing those who can afford more to balance out the costs for others in the community.
The Neighbourhood Market was developed based on the specific needs of the Pointe-Claire neighborhood, with input from a resident committee. Many of these residents remain involved as volunteers or clients at the market, emphasizing its community-driven nature. The market takes place every other week on Wednesday afternoons in the parking lot of the Bob Birnie Arena.
Multiple payment options, including cash, debit, credit, and the Carte Proximité, are accepted. Stay connected with the market by joining their Facebook events. For any inquiries, reach out to Alicia Diaz-Pappas, the Solidarity Market Project Coordinator at adiazpappas@tqsoi.
