## Description

Traces of Evil is a digital history resource created by David Heath, Head of Humanities at the Bavarian International School near Munich and Dachau. An experienced history educator, International Baccalaureate examiner, accredited Dachau guide and Yad Vashem-certified educator, Heath focuses on the Third Reich, the Holocaust and the Second World War. The site makes history tangible through thousands of original then-and-now photographs and animated comparisons, many taken on location, alongside archival images, primary sources, film footage and survivor accounts. Its coverage ranges across European sites associated with Nazi and Fascist history, including Berlin’s government district, the Reichstag, the Brandenburg Gate and the Führerbunker. Traces of Evil also provides teaching materials for GCSE, A-Level and International Baccalaureate courses, including lesson plans, examination-style questions and graded student responses. Historical commentary explores how places have changed, how public memory is shaped, and how architecture and reconstruction can obscure or illuminate the past. Designed for students, teachers and historians, the resource connects documented events with the sites where they unfolded and supports critical engagement with difficult history.
