## Description

Trackbase is a music project that publishes curated lists and countdowns of tracks. Rather than attempting to catalog every song, it focuses on a smaller selection of music considered notable enough for best-of lists and other collections. Its initial work centers on 97X WOXY, the now-defunct modern rock radio station known for the tagline “the future of rock and roll.”

The site offers an archive of every Modern Rock 500 countdown broadcast by WOXY, alongside a reconstruction of the station’s daily playlist from July 2004 through September 2009. Visitors can explore historical playlists and see examples of the songs played on a particular date, with tracks by artists including Mike Doughty, Aberdeen City, the Dandy Warhols, Deerhoof, and Stereo Total. Trackbase also provides updates through email subscriptions and an RSS feed. Its collections preserve and present selections associated with WOXY, giving listeners a way to revisit the station’s programming and discover music drawn from its archives.
