## Description

Trailback is a desktop search and recall tool for Mac and Windows that helps people find files, web pages, screenshots, and other items they have lost. Instead of requiring a filename, folder, or exact date, it lets users describe what they remember. Trailback can search words inside PDFs, documents, and screenshots, find websites even after browser history is cleared, and connect files with the websites they came from. It also helps reconstruct what someone was working on and group related pages, files, and screenshots from a project or activity.

The app works offline, with remembering and searching performed on the user’s computer. It does not upload personal files or browsing history, record the screen, or capture typed text, and private browsing is skipped. Users can pause tracking, exclude apps, sites, or folders, and delete stored information. An optional browser extension helps Trailback remember visited websites. The service is available for Mac and Windows, with a listed launch price of $5.
