## Description

Trans Baviaans is a South African mountain biking event brand best known for its 24-hour mountain bike marathon through the spectacular Baviaanskloof mountain ranges. Founded by Wikus van der Walt, the event was created to test endurance, showcase the region’s natural beauty, and bring riders together through challenge and camaraderie. With more than 21 years of history, it has grown beyond a race into a community experience for both returning competitors and first-time participants. The event offers race entry and a range of practical resources, including rider information, route details, race guides, checkpoint and registration information, mandatory gear guidance, and support services. Its website also provides results, galleries, accommodation information, event news, and details about start and finish locations. Riders can learn about race rules, the programme, and prize-giving, while supporters can follow the event and explore ways to get involved. Trans Baviaans is associated with EcoBound, an outdoor adventure community focused on mountain biking, trail running, camping, and related activities.
