## Description

Trans PULSE is an innovative community-based research project dedicated to addressing healthcare challenges faced by Ontario's transgender communities. Established in 2004, it focuses on understanding the impacts of cisnormativity, social exclusion, and transphobia on access to essential health and social services. Through a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods, including surveys and focus groups, the project investigates critical issues such as mental health, sexual health, and experiences with family and healthcare providers.

In collaboration with community members and a dedicated Steering Committee, Trans PULSE aims to ensure that the research remains relevant and empowering, ultimately translating findings into actionable insights for policymakers and service providers. With funding from prominent organizations like the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Trans PULSE has expanded into a national initiative, Trans PULSE Canada, which aims to gather comprehensive survey data from diverse, priority populations within the trans and non-binary communities. Through its commitment to inclusivity and evidence-based advocacy, Trans PULSE actively promotes healthcare improvements for trans individuals across Ontario and beyond.
