## Description

Tribler is an innovative open-source Peer-to-Peer file sharing program developed by the Delft University of Technology, initiated in April 2005. With over one million installations, Tribler has evolved through practical algorithm testing by generations of Ph.D. It is designed to improve the traditional BitTorrent protocol, addressing its shortcomings by introducing features like streaming from magnet links, content keyword search, channels, and reputation management, all while maintaining a decentralized structure. Tribler prioritizes user anonymity and data privacy, aiming to transform darknet technology into a standard for all Internet users. The project has garnered significant support through European research grants totaling over 3.5 million Euros, employing a dedicated team of scientists and engineers. Collaborations with contributors have enriched Tribler, resulting in a robust codebase of over 146,000 lines. With a mission to enhance self-organizing systems and protect users from malicious entities, Tribler stands at the forefront of secure digital sharing.
