## Description

TrustLine is California’s official background-check registry for in-home and other license-exempt child care providers. Administered by the California Department of Social Services and the nonprofit California Child Care Resource and Referral Network, the program helps families and agencies check whether eligible caregivers have passed its screening. It serves nannies and babysitters, supervised visitation monitors, staff at ancillary child care centers, child transportation drivers, and other providers not required to hold a child care license.

TrustLine checks fingerprint records from the California Department of Justice and the FBI, the California Child Abuse Central Index, and additional state licensing and agency databases. Applicants submit an application, fingerprints, and applicable fees; those who clear the screening are registered. Parents can contact TrustLine by phone or email with a provider’s identifying details to confirm registry status.

The website offers application guidance, fingerprint location information, and resources for families, caregivers, and agencies, including hiring guides, printable questionnaires, and a nanny contract template.
