## Description

Chert provides technology that enables businesses and developers to connect AI agents with people through iMessage, SMS, and FaceTime. Backed by Y Combinator, the brand offers programmable messaging and calling designed to support personalized, trusted interactions at scale. Its platform gives agents phone numbers for native iMessage conversations and FaceTime audio or video calls, with tools to preserve reply context, typing indicators, reactions, and handoffs between AI and human teams.

Chert’s products include an API, command-line interface, and SDK resources for integrating an existing AI agent. Features support onboarding, customer service, B2C agents, group conversations, delivery-status updates, and sharing files, links, voice notes, and contact cards. When a recipient is not available on iMessage, messages can fall back to SMS or RCS where supported. The service offers a free trial on a shared line, a paid shared-line plan, and dedicated-line access by arrangement. Pricing and usage limits apply, and the company notes that paid checkout is currently paused. Chert also provides documentation, setup guidance, case studies, and customer support.
