## Description

Metr provides usage-based billing infrastructure for software, APIs, compute, and AI agents. Its platform lets businesses charge for access by time or measured usage, while giving buyers clear prices, spending limits, and records of what they consume. Merchants can define a rate and billing unit, open a session with an explicit maximum, meter active work, and close the session with a usage record for reconciliation. Controls include authorization before work begins, spending caps, pause and resume options, and grace periods for brief interruptions.

For AI agents, Metr is designed to make purchases programmatic: agents can discover a service’s price, authorize a bounded budget, monitor costs, and stop access when needed. Supported use cases include GPU and inference time, developer APIs, agent services, software workspaces, streaming access, and automation jobs. Metr offers a public API and developer resources, with additional capabilities confirmed during onboarding. Its product also outlines a planned METR settlement integration on Robinhood Chain; availability depends on the approved account and configured network.
