## Description

ROOTS is a calm digital field guide for discovering wild nature. Through its live-camera scanning experience, users can photograph plants, birds, insects, animals, fungi and other wildlife to seek an identification. Each scan uses three quick frames, selects the sharpest image and records GPS information accurate to about 50 meters; uploads from a photo gallery are not accepted.

A find becomes a public claim for 24 hours, allowing others to dispute it with a reason before human review. The first verified finder of a species may create its species coin and earn a share of fees, while a portion supports $ROOTS buybacks. The site also offers a species dex, map, claims ledger and profile features.

ROOTS emphasizes responsible observation: users should keep their distance and never touch, feed, bait or disturb wildlife, or pick plants. Protected and endangered species cannot be claimed, and their locations are withheld; public locations are approximate.
