## Description

Trysil Historielag USA–Canada is a community history website dedicated to preserving the stories of Norwegian immigrants and their descendants in North America, particularly those connected to Trysil Lutheran Church in Holmes City Township, Douglas County, Minnesota. The site documents the pioneers who established the congregation, farmed the surrounding land, raised families, and shaped the local community. It also explores the church’s history and the pastors who served it, including Rev. Christian T. Saugstad, its first minister.

Visitors can research family names and surnames, learn about Trysilingers and their connections, and explore information related to Trysil Cemetery. The website shares historical records and personal accounts, including details of baptisms, confirmations, marriages, and deaths, alongside photographs, diaries, and other collection materials that offer glimpses into earlier generations. Blog posts add context through local history, archival newspaper extracts, church stories, and requests for help identifying people in historical photographs. The site also invites visitors to connect through Facebook and contribute knowledge that may help fill gaps in the historical record.
