## Description

Natuurpunt is a pioneering environmental organization dedicated to transforming Belgium's natural landscape through community engagement in wildlife research. With an emphasis on the significance of private gardens—which account for approximately 12% of Flanders' total area—Natuurpunt aims to elucidate the biodiversity present in these green spaces, where urban gardens alone constitute 20%. The organization runs initiatives like Het Grote Vogelweekend and weekly butterfly counts, actively inviting citizens to participate in monitoring bird and butterfly populations in their gardens. This collective effort helps fill crucial knowledge gaps about local ecosystems and fosters a greater understanding of nature's intricacies among residents. By engaging the community in these citizen science projects, Natuurpunt not only enhances biodiversity awareness but also builds a sense of collective responsibility towards preserving Flanders’ rich natural heritage. Join Natuurpunt's initiatives to contribute to vital environmental research and make a lasting impact on your local ecosystem.
