Two Rivers Midwifery is a home birth practice led by Silke Akerson, a certified professional midwife and licensed direct-entry midwife. Since 2002, the practice has offered personalized, respectful care to families through pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. Its approach emphasizes time, listening, education, and a trusting relationship, with care tailored to each family’s needs, culture, and beliefs. The practice welcomes families of all structures and faiths and is LGBTQ-affirming.

Services have included prenatal visits, preparation for birth and parenthood, nutrition and lifestyle guidance, and support with movement, herbs, supplements, and postpartum recovery. Midwives attend home births with attention to the health and safety of parent and baby, offering hands-on labor support when needed while respecting each person’s preferences and the natural progress of birth. They also aim to welcome babies gently and help partners and loved ones participate with confidence. An initial consultation was offered at no charge. After providing home birth services for many years, Two Rivers Midwifery is no longer accepting new clients and can recommend other midwives upon request.
