About

Description

Texas SILC, also known as the Texas State Independent Living Council, is dedicated to empowering Texans with disabilities to live as independently as they choose. As the state's leading organization in the field of independent living, Texas SILC focuses on the development, monitoring, and evaluation of the State Plan for Independent Living (SPIL). This strategic plan, spanning three years, serves as a framework for the delivery of Independent Living services across Texas.

At Texas SILC, they offer a range of projects and initiatives aimed at supporting individuals with disabilities. These include the Texas Peer Assistance and Leadership (PAL) program, which provides mentorship and guidance to individuals navigating independent living. Additionally, the Inclusive Services for Survivors in Texas Project (ISST) addresses the unique needs of survivors with disabilities, while the Public Health Workforce (PHWF) initiative focuses on promoting healthcare opportunities within the disability community.

Written comments on the SPIL are always welcomed and can be submitted via email or mailed to the Texas State Independent Living Council
