## Description

The International Arctic Research Center (IARC), affiliated with the University of Alaska Fairbanks, is a pioneering research institute dedicated to understanding the Arctic and addressing the challenges posed by climate change. Established in 1999, IARC capitalizes on $1 of state funding to generate $8 through competitive research grants and partnerships. It employs over 100 scientists and professionals who engage in around 150 research projects that explore the complex interactions within the Arctic system, including the ocean, ice, atmosphere, and land.

IARC is committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in its operations and fosters a collaborative environment that respects and values diverse perspectives. This commitment extends to building strong relationships with Indigenous communities to ensure that research is relevant and supports their sovereignty. By responding to societal needs, fostering innovation, and leveraging both traditional knowledge and modern science, IARC aims to provide actionable insights that benefit not just the local communities but the global community as a whole.
