## Description

The Ubyssey is an independent, non-profit student press dedicated to serving the University of British Columbia (UBC) community since 1918. Operating autonomously, The Ubyssey answers to the public, not to any institution, ensuring that its journalism remains unbiased and focused on the needs of its readers. As a registered non-profit organization under the Societies Act, all revenue generated directly supports its journalistic endeavors.

The Ubyssey is primarily guided and operated by students, catering specifically to the UBC student body, who contribute to its funding through an annual fee. The publication provides comprehensive coverage on various topics relevant to university life, including news, opinion pieces, culture, and sports. Its mission emphasizes the principle that journalism serves the public, maintaining a commitment to informing and engaging the UBC community. With a legacy dating back over a century, The Ubyssey continues to evolve while upholding its core values of independence and community service.
