UEBT is a non-profit association that advocates for ethical sourcing through sourcing with respect. Our mission is to regenerate nature and create a better future for both people and biodiversity. We focus on setting good practices for companies and their suppliers in the beauty, food, natural pharmaceuticals, flavors & fragrances, herbs, and spices sectors, among others. Sourcing with respect means harvesting, collecting, or growing ingredients from biodiversity in a way that respects the local environment and the communities who call it home. We involve companies, communities, civil society, and other stakeholders in developing these practices, which collectively form the UEBT standard. Working with UEBT allows businesses to demonstrate their impact to consumers, governments, and other stakeholders. Through our verification and certification process, brands and products that adhere to these standards can be identified. Our primary focus is on botanicals, encompassing plants, raw materials, and compounds derived from biodiversity. We differentiate botanicals from commodities by their scale of production and trade.
