About
Description
United Farm Workers (UFW) is the nation's first and largest farm workers' union, established in the early 1960s by influential figures such as Cesar Chavez, Dolores Huerta, and Larry Itliong. With a strong commitment to justice and integrity, UFW advocates for a safe and equitable food supply chain. UFW's proactive campaigns cover major agricultural sectors, primarily in California, protecting the rights of vegetable, berry, winery, tomato, and dairy workers.
Over 75 percent of California's fresh mushroom industry is now secured under UFW contract agreements. The union has championed ground-breaking legislation, including overtime pay after eight hours a day, comprehensive heat safety standards, and COVID-19 protections for agricultural workers. They are also prominent in the national movement for immigration reform, with their reform bill for immigrant field workers passing the U.
S. House in a bipartisan vote. With a focus on worker voices and rights, UFW engages in activism by providing education, organizing campaigns, and offering member benefits.
Their impactful work has earned them widespread endorsements and support. To stay informed and participate, you can connect with UFW on various social media platforms
