## Description

UgandAid is a UK-registered charity that supports vulnerable young people in Uganda to build skills, pursue employment and move beyond poverty. For more than 20 years, it has arranged sponsorship for students to attend residential vocational courses at Nile Vocational Institute (NVI), a non-government training college near Jinja. These two- or three-year programmes provide practical training intended to help graduates support themselves and their families. Sponsors include individuals, families, schools and other groups in the UK.

Alongside student sponsorship, UgandAid contributes to NVI through capital projects that improve its infrastructure and departmental equipment. The charity also invites supporters to donate to its projects, sponsor a student, take part in team visits and follow updates through its blog. People can raise funds at no cost to themselves by registering with easyfundraising, where participating online retailers make donations to UgandAid when they shop.

UgandAid reports that it has donated more than £1 million and that over 1,000 students have been welcomed into NVI.
