## Description

UKMON, the UK Meteor Network, is a pioneering platform dedicated to advancing the field of meteor astronomy through teamwork and collaboration. Founded in 2012 by Richard Kacerek and Peter Campbell-Burns, UKMON aims to establish a comprehensive network of meteor monitoring cameras across the UK. With a philosophy rooted in open data sharing, UKMON encourages amateur astronomers to contribute to a collective repository that enhances scientific understanding of meteors. Currently, the network boasts thirty cameras, providing its members with ongoing support, resources, and access to an extensive database of meteor observations shared with partners across Europe.

Through initiatives like online meteor watch events and social media engagement, UKMON fosters public interest and participation in meteor astronomy. The network collaborates with various organizations, including the European Video Meteor Database, to leverage shared expertise and innovative technologies. UKMON is not just an observatory; it’s a vibrant community where science meets passion, inviting everyone to explore the wonders of the night sky.
