## Description

Upper Missouri Breaks Audubon Society (UMBA), also identified as the Upper Missouri Bird Alliance, is a local chapter of the National Audubon Society serving north-central Montana since 1981. Based in Great Falls, UMBA brings people together to learn about birds, support habitat awareness, and take part in community conservation and birding activities. People can join or donate to support its work, and members benefit from shared knowledge and a stronger connection to local birds and habitats.

The organization offers regular bird walks, field trips, monthly meetings, seasonal events, and volunteer opportunities. Its calendar includes outings to Giant Springs and Lake Francis, winter raptor surveys, and the annual Christmas Bird Count. UMBA also shares birding areas, newsletters, publications, species lists, photographs, and updates on its website. Educational programs address topics such as Trumpeter Swan recovery, bird migration, tracking technology, and preventing window collisions. The group participates in public outreach, including activities at the Montana State Fair, and connects visitors with resources such as eBird Montana, Cornell Lab of Ornithology, Montana Audubon, and other chapters. Through these services, UMBA supports local bird enthusiasts and encourages informed stewardship of birds and their habitats.
