This initiative aims to heighten global awareness of the crucial role glaciers play in the climate system and hydrology, alongside the socio-economic impacts of their accelerated melting. March 21st has been designated as World Day for Glaciers to coincide with this focus. The program will feature a range of activities, including events, exhibitions, and international conferences, fostering dialogue and sharing best practices among over 75 international organizations and 35 countries involved. The efforts are supported by an Advisory Board and four Task Forces that drive the implementation and align projects with the objectives of the initiative.
