## Description

The Uncompahgre Nordic Association (UNA) is a community-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving Nordic skiing enthusiasts in the Montrose, Colorado, area. Its mission is to enhance Nordic skiing for people of all ages and abilities while encouraging safe, enjoyable recreation on the Uncompahgre Plateau and helping protect the area’s natural beauty.

UNA maintains community trails on U.S. Forest Service land for non-motorized, over-snow recreation, with a focus on Nordic skiing. When trails are groomed, classic tracks are set, and selected routes are widened where possible to accommodate skate skiing. Snowshoers and leashed dogs are also welcome, provided users follow trail etiquette and respect other visitors and trail conditions. Fatbikes are not recommended, and hiking or walking on ski trails can damage the surface.

The association provides trail maps, resources, safety and etiquette guidance, grooming and weather information, and community events. Its activities include seasonal gatherings, such as the Winter Stoke Party, and it welcomes support through donations.
