Description

UNIARQ, the Center for Archaeology at the University of Lisbon, is a research and development unit funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). With a focus on archaeological data, UNIARQ's main objective is to study human societies in the western Iberian Peninsula, from the Paleolithic period to Roman Lusitania and beyond. As an organic unit of the Faculty of Arts, University of Lisbon, UNIARQ is directed by Carlos Fabião and is organized into various projects.


The center has a strategic partnership with the National Museum of Archaeology. UNIARQ's research groups are engaged in a diverse range of projects and lines of inquiry, covering the Paleolithic period to Late Antiquity across different regions of Portugal.
