## Description

UNICEPE is a Porto-based bookshop and cultural space that describes itself as a place of freedom and solidarity. Alongside selling books, it brings together readers, authors, artists and others committed to diverse thinking and cultural emancipation. Its physical bookshop is located at Praça Carlos Alberto, 128-A, and the organisation also offers editions and an online shop.

A central part of UNICEPE’s work is its cultural programme, which includes book launches, author presentations, discussions and recurring events such as the Roda de Choro do Porto, celebrating Brazilian popular music. Its events feature works across a wide range of subjects and genres, from history, politics and social issues to poetry, theatre and children’s literature. UNICEPE also provides an associated-members’ space and shares news and writing related to books and literary life. By combining bookselling with public events and community engagement, it creates a welcoming meeting place for people interested in literature, music and cultural exchange. The bookshop is open on weekdays and Saturdays.
