## Description

Unimak is an initiative run by Czech and Slovak students who help young people explore the possibility of studying abroad. Its guidance is free and based on students’ own experiences, offering an alternative to commercial study-abroad agencies. The website introduces study destinations including England, Scotland, the United States, the Netherlands and Germany, with information such as typical tuition fees and living costs. It also shares practical resources for planning an international education, including scholarship information, advice on writing a motivation letter or UK Personal Statement, and answers to questions and concerns commonly raised by parents. Unimak’s volunteers visit schools in Slovakia and the Czech Republic to explain what studying abroad involves, set realistic expectations and challenge common myths. Schools can invite the team to give a presentation and answer students’ questions. The initiative says it presents quality universities without receiving payment from them, aiming instead to show that overseas study can be a realistic option.
