Unit 1 Fitness & Martial Arts is a martial arts and fitness facility near Chesterfield town centre, offering classes throughout the week and at weekends. Founded by Dave Cartawick, a fifth-dan Wado Ryu Karate instructor and founder of the British Karate and Kickboxing Association, the centre welcomes beginners and experienced participants of all ages and fitness levels. Its classes include karate, kickboxing and other martial arts training, with options for self-defence, weapons training and competitive development. Fitness activities include Boxercise, Strong by Zumba, Ten3s, a boxing-inspired workout built around ten three-minute rounds, and fitness Pilates, which focuses on core and back strength, flexibility and posture. Training is led by qualified, experienced coaches who aim to help members build confidence, flexibility and fitness through disciplined practice in controlled, supervised conditions. Based at purpose-built premises on Brimington Road North, Unit 1 offers a welcoming environment where members can progress at their own pace.
