## Description

Unpaywall is an open database designed to make scholarly research more accessible. Operated by OurResearch, a nonprofit dedicated to widening access to scholarship, it collects open-access articles from more than 50,000 publishers and repositories. The site reports a database of over 57 million free scholarly articles and provides tools for finding, tracking, and using this content.

Unpaywall serves individuals and organizations, from students working on class assignments to libraries and enterprise users. Its data is integrated into thousands of library systems, search platforms, and other information products worldwide. Products and services include a Chrome and Firefox browser extension, a database snapshot, a data feed, a REST API, a simple query tool, and library link-resolver integration. Guides help users choose options suited to their needs, including resources for libraries, enterprise applications, and research.

Unpaywall emphasizes open access and open-source development: its source code is openly available, and its services are intended to make scholarly literature easier to discover and use.
