## Description

The Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission (UPSDM) is a government initiative that helps eligible young people aged 14 to 35 build skills for employment. It offers training in learners’ preferred trades and supports the acquisition and improvement of skills for both unskilled and semi-skilled workers. Its courses follow the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF), and the mission identifies sectors and job roles for training across Uttar Pradesh’s districts.

UPSDM provides a range of programmes and services, including candidate registration, vocational training, assessment, results access and placement support. Its initiatives include the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY), Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), Project Praveen and the State Skill Development Fund (SSDF). The mission also works with training, assessment and placement partners, skill development centres and other organisations, and publishes updates, reports, guidelines and success stories through its portal. It gives particular attention to inclusion, with targets earmarked for women, minorities and persons with disabilities, and provides candidates with online registration and support resources.
