The US Israel Business Council (USI) is a non-profit business network based in New York City. Their mission is to connect investors, senior executives, community leaders, and leading entrepreneurs with Israeli and American innovation. One of their initiatives, called AltRoute, is a business plan competition aimed at reducing dependence on petroleum as a fuel source for transportation.

Sponsored by the Fuel Choice Initiative and facilitated by USI, AltRoute taps into the creativity and expertise of MBA and environmental studies graduate students from the US and Israel. Participating student teams will develop plans and strategies for reducing petroleum oil use in companies or institutions with large vehicle fleets. The top ten teams will be invited to a summit event in New York City, where they will present their ideas to business and academic leaders.
