The U. S. Mint is the government agency responsible for creating coins in the United States.
Known for producing small, metal discs that serve as money, the Mint ensures that the U. S. Established in 1792, the Mint standardized America's money system, replacing the use of coins from other countries, livestock, or crops as a means of payment.
Interestingly, while the Mint handles coin production, paper currency is produced by a different agency called the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP).
